Despite a quadriceps tear that will sideline Alistair Overeem for 4-5 weeks, UFC president Dana White is insistent that Overeem will face Dos Santos. The UFC president tweeted that the promotion will look to place the bout on a card later this summer rather than finding a replacement for Overeem.
The two fighters were originally set to face off at UFC 160, however Overeem?s injury will prevent him from facing of with the Brazilian this May.
UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt rallied for the spot against Dos Santos, ironically for the second straight year, but was denied a shot at the Brazilian fighter.
The current time-table for Overeem?s return could find the bout landing on UFC 162 on the Independence Day weekend card.

Most UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2 fans were less than thrilled to hear Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva would get first crack at Cain Velasquez’s UFC heavyweight crown, particularly since Velasquez already throttled the Brazilian less than a year ago.
